This time we decided to meet in Bentonville for our district meeting. We are the furthest south couple in Ft. Smith, about 90 minutes away. Cooks and Delimonts both came about 3 1/2 hours from the northeast sections of our mission. The other couples are closer than that-- from Springfield, MO, area, Joplin, Mo, and around the Bentonville and Fayetteville areas. Our district officially includes six couples (and Jena) who serve in YSA branches, one serving in a military base, one supporting a remote branch and stake, and one doing records preservations. Although it was our first time together, it was a wonderful experience to be with these amazing missionaries. Just like the ones in Salt Lake City Headquarters mission, they jump in and help whatever is needed to be done. It was a delight to be with them.
Our agenda:
Thursday:
Pre-gathering: Pea Ridge Military Park
Christmas Dinner and Activity at the mission home joined by President and Sister Collins and the five senior missionaries who serve in the office
Friday:
District Meeting at the Stake Center
Temple Session together
Visit to the Museum of Native American People
Friday night Game Night
Saturday:
Breakfast
Post-Activity: Some went to the temple and the Cooks and us went to the Peel Mansion, a Victorian home built in the 1860s.
Posts and pictures to follow.....
We loved it all--the places we went were so interesting and the people we were with were amazing! Such great examples of hard working senior couples!
