Post Meeting Field Trip

Saturday morning, district meeting was officially over.  Some of the missionaries headed to the temple again, others headed home, and we went to the Peel Mansion with the Cooks.  It was interesting to learn about Mr. Peel, a self made man who became a lawyer and later a representative from Arkansas in Washington, DC.

He had asked his future wife four times to marry him before she said yes and only after he promised her to build a beautiful home for her.  She was from a wealthy family and he was poor at the time of their marriage.

It took a few years due to the Civil War and economy, but he finally made good on his promise.

A curio cabinet with his rock collection....
His law books which was passed down through 6 generations of the family of lawyers before given to the Peel Mansion when it was restored.

The Pass through between the Butler's pantry and the dining room...the kitchen was in another building behind the house.
Us with the Cooks.  They are from Coeur d'alene, Idaho and are serving in Rollo, Missouri.

Another couple on our tour were from Kaysville, UT--small world!

And that wraps up our first District Meeting....it was awesome!
