Church History Library Christmas Devotional and Lunch

On Friday, December 9, we joined many of the staff and missionaries from the Church History Library for a devotional with Elder Hugo Martinez, Assistant Church Historian, and a lunch on the 3rd level of the Conference Center.  Elder Martinez shared a beautiful story of compassion at Christmas time during World War II (why do so many tender stories come from wartime?)

We sat with some of the missionaries who used to be in our zone before the switch in September.  It was fun to catch up with them!

A room with a view---a bit foggy that day (actually it was probably the inversion, but from the inside we can pretend it was fog, right?)

Our reflection in the mirrors across the way.....
Looking down from the balcony.  The Conference Center is beautiful building.

As we walked back through the building after the lunch, I was struck by the paintings of Christ along the way.  I know that some of them have been there a while, but some were new--At Christmas time, it added a sweet touch to the event to stop and enjoy them without the big crowds which often fill the Conference Center.

He was born, he lived and died for us, and He rose on the third day!  This is what we celebrate at this time of the year!
