For our study this summer, we mixed some of the lessons in the Institute manual with President Nelson's talks since he became prophet. We have four new converts and we wanted them to understand the common references to things like "Peacemakers Needed" or "Think Celestial" that are a part of our church conversations now. We had five talks for our last class--some shorter than others but we looked for the Invitations he gave and the Blessings he promised--and added the tag lines to help us remember. We also talked about reaching out to the one in celebration of his upcoming 100th birthday.
We love these sweet young adults.
Short story: The week before this we had discussed the "Let God Prevail" talk---a great one. Any way, one of our brand new converts told the sisters the following experience. The day after that lesson, some friends invited him to go hang out at a local sport bar. He knew others would be drinking because that is what they always did when they gathered. The thought came to his mind: Are you going to let God prevail in your life? He immediately thought YES...and it became easy to decline the invitation. He told them he was going to try to always keep that thought in his mind. As we all should do!!!
The gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful!
