And The Baton!

While we were getting the music stand adjusted for Jena prior to the Devotional, she saw a baton that is left on the stand to be used by the music directors if they wished.  Jena had never used one before, but she was excited to use it for the meeting.  If you look carefully at the photo in the last post, you can see that she is using the baton.

After the meeting, several missionaries commented to her about using the baton and that she needed one for the zone devotionals.  People were telling us about different kinds--including "telescopic" ones. She told me later in the day that she needs a special "gift" of a baton and I agreed.  That night, she wrote a little note to post on Gary's computer to remember to order her a "professional musician (she spelled it magician) wand  telescopic."

However, before we could get one ordered, our sweet missionaries Mel and Joan Young gifted her one from their collection.  (Sister Young is musical and often plays the piano for our devotionals.)

They actually gifted her this one in the picture above, but then heard about the telescopic ones and traded it out the next day for one of those that Sister Young had.  So now Jena is a proud owner of her very own professional telescopic baton formerly owned by some of her missionary friends--the Youngs.
