Uon returning from AZ, we jumped back into life and Founders Week--the celebration of Syracuse.
We actually didn't attend many of the events this year as we were catching up from family reunion stuff. But we flew our Syracuse flag on our flag pole during the week to celebrate (I had gotten Gary one for Father's Day.)
On Saturday we enjoyed the parade in the morning wth all of the usual things--the flag, cheerleaders and student body officers from local schools, floats, and dance teams. And of course, salt water taffy being thrown out us along the way. Often we would hear someone yell "hi" to Jena from the parade.
That happens almost every where we go in our neighborhood. That night we watched the city fireworks from Gary's mom's front yard. They do a nice firework display to end the week of celebrations. We liked it very much and it is a nice tradition that Gary remembers from his childhood in Syracuse. It is nice to live in a city with this tradition. At one point, Gary's mom leaned over to us and asked us if the July 4th show at BYU was going to be similar as she was loving the Syracuse fireworks. We knew she was going to LOVE the fireworks at BYU, but that is another post.
Jena and I spent a morning doing a small hike around a local hike. We were hoping some friends would enjoy it with us but everyone ended up with conflicts. She and I had fun. She is a good walker. We ended with a picnic on the grass and a hot game of frisbee.
Can't find the pictures which I know are somewhere on my computer but I can't find them. Will add them when I find them.
