It's A Small World

...and no, I am not talking about Disneyland although Jessica, Elessia, and family returned from a fun trip just last week or so.  It is how the Church allows us to have so many connections with people.

Last Monday, Gary and I had to attend the Church History Library Orientation.  This is for all the new service missionaries who are receiving mission training before getting their actual assignments on where they are going to serve.  Our job is to tell how wonderful it is to serve at the Church History Library.  [Side note:  That job was made very difficult as our mission devotional that morning was given by the Discovery Zone and they shared some amazing stories about serving there. The whole mission wanted to serve there by the end of the devotional. :) ] This time there were 23 missionaries, one we had heard was from Syracuse, although not from our stake.  At the end of the meeting, we asked who was from Syracuse.  Three raised their hands--

Sister Janet Newbold who currently lives in Syracuse in the Syracuse West Stake down on 2700 South about a mile from Gary's childhood home.

Sister Debbie Widdison who grew up around the corner from Gary and his family.  She kept saying I can't believe how much you sound like Wayne.

And Sister Cheryl Garett Garber.  She grew up with Gary going to school with him throughout elementary, junior high and high school.  She was one of the popular kids while he was one of the smart ones.  She also knew our good friend, Laurie Hoer, so I took a picture to share with her on her mission.

Sister Stephenson and Sister Garber
Both are from Fruit Heights and know Laurie

What a small world it is and how fun to make these connections with these new missionaries.
