General Conference Weekend

For the first time in a long time, we had some invitations to Conference "Watch Parties" with other missionaries.  However, we ended up staying home because Gary and I had some little stomach bug that bothered us for a few days each...so we literally just watched conference and didn't accomplish much else than that.

It was a great conference.  While April Conference seemed to me to focus on Christ, this conference seemed to be more focused on being a better disciple of Christ.  The two commandments repeated over and over in a variety of talks was the ones to love God and love thy neighbor as thyself.  13 new temples announced and you can't help but feel so excited for those people because you remember how exciting it was for you to hear temples set for places you love.

I have been reviewing the blog to track details about Ben's history and came across a post I put about temples that I wrote years ago, saying something like--"It seems like all of the places we love have gotten temples after we have left--Hong Kong, Lubbock, and Columbia River.  There wouldn't likely be that same reaction unless Springfield, Mo., Amarillo, or Syracuse get one."  What do you know--Syracuse is getting their own temple?  How blessed we are!
