Christmas Service-YSA style

It was back in November when Jena brought up the question about what we were going to do for our "Christmas Service" this December.  I am not going to lie--it made me happy that she thought of it--and sad when I had to reminder her of the pandemic which surely change our options.  Over the past few years, we had hosted New Year Eve's Parties for a variety of groups Jena is involved in and they have always been great fun for us, for them, and the other families that have helped us plan and do the activities.  But with the limits on social gatherings, that would not be available as an option.

Her question started us thinking and she one day suggested that we take treats to her YSA ward.  That seemed like a big project and I wasn't sure there was a way to make that work with current restrictions.  However, after a conversation with her bishop, we worked out a plan to provide individual boxed brownies which the YSA ward members could grab after Church on December 20, 2020.

Our friends, the Pessettos, had done something simliar for their daughter's reception in the summer, so Michelle provided all the needed information--browines from the Davis School District Cafe and Bakery and boxes and paper from Amazon.

It took a bit of time to make 120 boxes......(thank heavens for Lifetime Christmas movies)...
...and then fill those boxes with fudge or mint brownies.
But we were ready to go and set up the tables 30 minutes before her ward began.

No pictures from our "social distancing" pick-up in the YW room in their building--in one door and out the other.  Jena was able to greet her friends and they were all grateful for an unexpected treat.

Sometimes simple is just as sweet---especially when fudge brownies are involved!
