While we were still in Arkansas, Valerie and Austin reached out to see if we wanted to attend a session of General Conference with them since they will be in Utah (they came up for our Homecoming talk and then will spend the week until Conference visiting family and having fun). We said yes and just a couple of days later, the stake president in Ft. Smith asked us if we would like some Stake Conference tickets from their allotment. We asked for five for the Saturday evening session and invited Valerie and Austin to join us. It made for a bit more hectic Conference weekend as we had to get dressed up and manage parking etc., but it made for a very great weekend. We were able to attend the Saturday evening and the Sunday afternoon (which is where President Nelson was present and spoke.) It was a great weekend.
We opted to take the Front Runner down on Saturday which is usually a fun ride. The weather was perfect all weekend long.
Gary said that this one looks like Jena is sitting by a painting on the wall. I had thought the same thing when I looked at it in my phone gallery.
Our first visit back to Temple Square since our mission there. The Temple is still under reconstruction, but the spires are back as well as the figure of Moroni on the eastern spire.
The Conference Center....this was the first conference since Covid that the Conference Center was filled. They allowed for all seats to be ticketed and then had a standby line to fill in the seats...just like the old days.
Waiting to meet up with Valerie and Austin.....
On the way to our seats in the balcony, we ran into the Rodebacks who are from Minnesota and served in the AR Bentonville Mission with us.
Sunday morning, I was even organized enough to bake some cinnamon rolls (not from scratch yet...no baking supplies in the house yet.)
Then off to the Sunday afternoon session. This time our seats were on the main floor area along the side. They were amazing.....
And amazingly, we ran into President and Sister Collins who actually sat next to us during the Conference. That was fun as well. Our mission friends continue to be a blessing in our lives at unexpected times.
Conference was amazing as usually. To get a feel for it, listen to President Nelson's remarks at the end of Conference!
“Every sincere seeker of Jesus Christ will find Him in the temple, You will feel His mercy. You will find answers to your most vexing questions. You will better comprehend the joy of His gospel.”
It was a wonderful weekend.
