The Rest Of The Stories: Part Two-Friday

Friday, we had to leave about 6:45 am to make sure that we manage rush hour traffic in Fayetteville through Bentonville and made it to the temple by 8:30 am..so another early morning start to the day.  It was another pretty drive and we made it to the temple by 8:20.  Because it was early, Gary decided to drive around the areas near the temple to see what is in that area.  As we were doing that, we started hearing a weird noise from our car as if we were dragging something.  We stopped and I hopped out to check.  We discovered that the underneath shield which protects the engine was dragging on the ground on both sides of the front of the car.  The day before our car was in the shop for our long awaited repairs on our car (which finally repair the problem and now allows us to use cruise control and other fun driver assist features of our car).  But definitely a "Houston, there is a problem" moment. We drove slowly back to the temple to attend our session and deal with the car issue afterwards....

So instead of more pictures in front of the temple--here is our "temple" photos--

Gary laying on our truck mat trying to figure out a way to tie it up long enough to get to a nearby repair shop.

Fortunately, two screws remained in although they were almost falling out as well.  He was able to hand screw them back in to allow both sides to not drag so we could drive 3 miles to a Hyundai dealership.
They were able to get us right in and fix the problem in about 10 minutes.  Gary and they agree that the repairman the day before must have hand-tightened the screws but then forgot to go back and tightened them with an electric drill.  Life's little problems....

While we were waiting, I took some pictures of this beautiful tree.  It looks and smells (according to others) like a pine tree but it is changing colors in the fall to this pretty red.
The tree has needle like leaves which were green but now red.  There are brown pods in the tree which when broken have a pine scent to them.  I asked a couple of the workers there but none of them knew the name of the tree but they all loved it, too.
From the inside of the tree, you can see a grape vine that is intertwined into the tree as well.  Those are the green/yellow leaves you see in these photos.

Another tree of the same type but not completely red yet......

So if anyone know, please let me know.

Because our undercarriage guard was now secure, we headed off the freeway and checked out Devil's Den State Park to see the fall colors......
Happy Halloween from a local
Sonic

This guy is sitting where the green frog
sat a month ago.  He is sitting on the tires
used to construct the frog.  I wonder what will
be there next?
FALL IS HERE!!!

We have passed this bird a few times, but no one was behind us so we could slow down and get a photo.
And another Church sign to remind us to believe.
I love the mis-mash of colors----
Being a Little Library owner and a grandmother to several grandchildren who love rocks, we had to turn around to get a picture of the "Take A Rock, Leave A Rock" library along a country road.
I know you have seen fall pictures, but they are all so pretty.  It is hard to choose which ones to include and which ones to leave on the computer.

This was at a little picnic area next to a stream.  We actually saw a plump little beaver hurrying across the road as we approached this stop (but wasn't ready to get the picture.  Gary thinks we need a dash cam so we can get these unexpected shots.)

As part of this traveling, we passed by Winslow, AR, where we had taken the train ride in September.  It is also in full fall colors.

Usually, we arrive home with dirt covering the back of our car.  This time, a single leaf had caught a ride.  Seemed appropriate for a drive through the changing colors of NW Arkansas in the fall!

Another day in our mission.
