Finishing Up July

On Sunday, Scott had his birthday which was filled with snakes and small tarantulas so if you know Scott, that was a good day.

Birthday card from James to Scott
I love the little heart by his name, which I do as well.

Scarlett--who is crafty--made him this snake

And some time with the family snake and a newly found baby snake.....

Somehow when we dropped Sister Davis off on Sunday night, we picked up a grasshopper inside our car this time.  We finally got him out on Monday afternoon during our trip up to Bentonville to deliver some extra house supplies to the mission office, had our interview with the mission president, pick up a few things for our apartment, and then headed to Pea Ridge for a visit and dinner with our friend, Debra Dixon, who served in Salt Lake with us.

Jena and the grasshopper

In between the mission office and Sister Dixon's, we headed to the Pea Ridge National Military Park.  Unfortunately, we arrived just as the main building was closing for the day (at 4:00 pm), but we were still able to take the driving tour through the grounds.  This was a location of Civil War Battles which I hadn't even known happened in Arkansas until we got our mission call here.  Every other year they do an reenactment of some of the battles fought here that is suppose to be one of the best in the nation. That will take place in December of 2024 after we leave.

Overlooking the valley where the battles took place...

Jena posing by a cannon

Beautiful here and hard to think about war being fought between the trees in the cold of the winters.  Of course, for me, no place seems like the right place for a war.

Enroute, we took another dirt road and passed through this pretty tree tunnel....

Near there was this sign about no dumping.  But look they offer a number to get free pickup and disposal. People in Arkansas are nice!
There was a beautiful full moon as we headed out from Bentonville, but pictures aren't the same (at least with my phone camera....)
And the month comes to a close....
