President and Sister Collins

We arrived to the mission home right on time and had a short introduction to the mission by President Rick and Sister Theresa Collins.  We learned that as a missionary here we are committing to the following things---we are happy to do them:  be willingly obedient; full of charity; work with diligence; and expect miracles! Yes!

This is our first "picture with the mission leaders" photo.  As we were traveling on Monday and again on Tuesday to Ft. Smith, we took the photo in our casual traveling clothes with a plan to get the "real" one later.

President and Sister Collins are from Sandy, Utah.  It happens that we know President Collins as he served as our financial planner for the past few years and for Gary's mom for longer than that.  We learned a bit more about them from Sister Kay Collins who is his step mom and served in the Headquarters Mission with us.  So it wasn't quite like they were new to us, but really we don't know much about them as people and we hadn't really met Sister Collins except briefly when they left for their mission service.  It was a sweet evening together and we look forward to being taught by them as we serve. We spent the night at the mission home like most new missionaries do.  Jena even got to sleep in the bunk rooms which house missionaries as they enter and leave the mission.

Tuesday morning, we headed out to Ft. Smith, Arkansas about 90 minutes almost directly south of Bentonville.  As you can see, the skies were filled with fluffy white clouds and blue sky.
