Jena's "Auntie" Quilt

Home on Thursday and back to real life--

Jena is taking a Humanities class this year from BYU online and she had to design a "creative project."  She had narrowed the options to making a quilt top and writing a song.  Since I am not much of a help with music, we both decided on the quilt top.  As she looked at fabrics we had, she liked several of the fabrics left over from the baby quilts I made for the grandkids.  So out of thought, she decided to make an aunt quilt.  We cut the squares and made a plan before I left, but we had a busy weekend getting it put together right when I got back since it was due on Tuesday.  She likes to sew and I think she liked doing this project.  We ended up rearrange the design a few different ways until she got a design she liked. We had to add some more solid blocks for the new plan, but we love the way it turned out.

One of the blocks-- Each block of four included a print from each of her nieces' and nephews' baby quilt along with a solid that matched.  This fabric was on both Alex's and Carter's quits but used for Carter's block in Jena's quilt.
The finished quilt--the blocks are in birth order-  on top  Scarlett, Niki, and Liam;  middle Zander, James, and Cooper; and the bottom  Carter, Alex, and Ava.
Jena's teacher and friends loved it, too.  Jena is a hard worker!
