To The Conference Center Again

...to see the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's Summer Concert.  What a treat it was to be in that building and to listen to their beautiful music!  Randy Gailey had provided us tickets and we had great seats.

Trying to get the three of us as we headed down the hill in 100 degree heat.

Waiting for the concert to start--

It was amazing to see how they used lights and colors on the organ pipes and walls.  I only took these photos before the show started and during a short break as a sample.

Opera singer, Shea Owens, was the soloist and his voice is amazing.  It is incredible how one person's voice can be so beautiful and powerful that the choir can be the "back up singers" and it sounds beautiful.  He sand "There But For You, Go I" from Brigadoon, "Hold On" from The Secret Garden and "Thankful."  I had heard the song "Thankful" before but I couldn't remember who sang it.  I found it on You Tube today and it was the version by Josh Groban.  I loved the words so much that I am including them here:

To look around us Somedays we can't see The joy that surrounds us So caught up inside ourselves We take when we should give. So for tonight we pray for What we know can be. And on this day we hope for What we still can't see. It's up to us to be the change And even though we all can still do more There's so much to be thankful for. Look beyond ourselves There's so much sorrow It's way too late to say I'll cry tomorrow Each of us must find our truth It's so long overdue So for tonight we pray for What we know can be And every day we hope for What we still can't see It's up to us to be the change And even though we all can still do more There's so much to be thankful for. Even with our differences There is a place we're all connected Each of us can find each other's light So for tonight we pray for What we know can be And on this day we hope for What we still can't see It's up to us to be the change And even though this world needs so much more There's so much to be thankful for.

How true are these words.  I highly recommend listening to it on YouTube.  There is so much to be thankful for!
