Wednesday was a fun day because our new mission president and his wife came to visit our zone. We spent about 30 minutes with them--sharing about ourselves and then about our zone. Gary had prepared a PowerPoint about our zone and the work we do. Then our assistant zone leaders came in and talked with them as well. The last activity was walking around so they could see and talk to our missionaries and some of the staff in our area. They are such warm and personable people. It was delightful. Jena and I couldn't stay for their entire walk-around because I needed to get her home so I could get back to our mission leadership council meeting at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building at 3:00. However, Gary reported that while visiting on the third floor, they saw the Semadenis (a couple in our zone) and all four of them started talking and hugging each other. Turns out that they are in the same stake in Centerville and attend Church in the same chapel. That was fun. Then they went down a few more cubicles and saw Sister Winn, another missionary in our zone. More hugs and conversations. She had known President Holmes when he was a little boy as they were in the small ward until he left on his mission. More stories were shared and lots of laughing.
Gary and I then got to spend two more hours with both of them in the mission leader council meeting. Again, another great experience!
Welcome to the Collections Zone, President and Sister Holmes! We are loving getting to know you.
