I with Robin, Valerie, Rick, and Linda spent 2-5 days together without me taking any pictures. So weird. But we were busy cleaning, organizing, talking, and even got some game playing in. But the whole trip had an interesting start....which is why I have a photo only of the AutoZone sign.
Valerie arrived 15 minutes after I did, and then Ellen Baird, one of Robin's friends, picked us up and took us to Robin's so that we could use her car. They had tried to start it the day before and knew it needed a charge. She jumped it, it started, but we needed gas. We went to the gas station, filled up and had to be jumped again....so we headed to Auto Zone to see if the battery could be charged up while we waited. They suggested we try driving it for 2 hours and then bring it in again so they could check it. Well, it was already about 5:30 or so and we were suppose to go get Robin who was being discharged. We called her and she arranged to stay an extra night...and we started driving on the freeways around Amarillo. We drove to Canyon, then to Bushland to the west twice, we bought dinner from a drive up window (while I used the bathroom inside) and then headed east. With luck, we found the street we had lived on when we first moved to Amarillo and rented a house out in Highland Park, an old Air Force base housing area. Still in the middle of not much!
After all of that and being sent from Auto Zone to OReillys where she had bought the battery, it was determined that the alternator was bad and needed to be replaced. They jumped it for us one more time and we moved it to our rental house and settled in for the night. The next day we ubered over to a car rental and rented a car to use for the week.

And then finally, Tuesday morning, we were able to pick up Robin and get her stuff back to her apartment and to the rental house where she was going to stay with us and do laundry as well.
Rick and Linda arrived on Wednesday and pitched right in making some runs to Good will and to the dump which made a big difference in the apartment. We were able to get things cleaned up and some stuff boxed up for the move in the fall, and we were able to make it safe for her to use her walker throughout the apartment. We also helped her get a new bed. Her bed was about 38 years old. It was time!
It was good to be with everyone and it felt right to be able to provide Robin with help and support as she made the move back home. She was so excited to be home which I totally understand. She ended up back in the hospital a week later with a UTI which required 5 days of IV treatment...but she still loved going back home rather than being at the Rehab Center.
I love my siblings and enjoy our time together even if we are cleaning and boxing stuff. Thanks everyone for making our time together so fun.
