On Tuesday, the 18th, Jena and about 20 other of her theatre friends were able to perform at Viewmont High School during their dance review for the year. They had fun singing and dancing in front of the crowd and they got a big round of applause.
They did a song from Wicked.
I had two cool experiences--first, one of the dancers in Viewmont team was a girl who I was involved in her adoption placement 16 or 17 years ago. She has a unusual name and it is hard to imagine that there is someone else in this same location with the same name. I thought about looking around for her parents, but I decided that it would be hard in the large crowd and be somewhat "out of the blue".
Right after Jena's dance was completed and we were heading out the gym door, I got a text from Sister Mikayla Cowley (Fox), one of our sweet ABM missionaries. She got married last summer and she was attending the dance review to support her new sister in law. She was so excited to recognize Jena from the stands. The weather had been terrible coming down from Syracuse with the roads being very slippery, so we didn't stay to reconnect that night. We have plans to get together for lunch sometime soon. But how fun is that? It is a small world.
