Thursday, August 11, Gary had an appointment with the dermatologist to have some tissue removed from two areas where he had had prior biopsies. This appointment had been changed by the doctor's office from July so it seems like we have been waiting for awhile already so we (mostly me as Gary is fine to forget the whole thing) were happy to be heading up to Pleasant View on that Thursday. We left the Church History Library later than we expected so headed up without eating a real lunch--just munching on crackers, cheese and nuts on the way up.
We noticed some smoke in the air ahead--but I didn't think much about it UNTIL we got to stand-still traffic on I-15. According to the radio, there had been a car crash up ahead. We immediately called and told the office we would be late and they said if we made it within 15 minutes of our appointment they would still take him. The smoke we saw was from a small grass fire which appeared to have been caused by the accident.
Unfortunately, we arrived right at that 15 minute mark and they decided we needed to reschedule--so another afternoon drive to Pleasant View which is north of Ogden and another medical thing waiting to be done with.
Life doesn't work perfectly even for missionaries.
