Brigham Young Memorial Park

or "Mormon Pioneer Memorial Park" is located immediately west of our apartment complex on 1st Ave.  I knew that it contained the burial plots for Brigham Young and some others, but we never took the time to visit it after we first moved in back in May of 2021.  Then in August, we got a notice that the park would be closed the next week for a restoration project.  Literally two days later, it was locked up and work began......and went on and on....and on some more.  When we were scheduled to leave our mission in September, I was starting to wondering if we would ever actually see and walk inside the park.
Finally in November, it was rededicated and opened to the public again.  One day shortly afterwards, Jena and I stopped in on our way home from the library.  This is a private park and is the burial place for Brigham Young and some of his wives and family members in marked graves.  Prior to the restoration project, sonar was used and they found that over 40 people were buried here, most in unmarked graves.
The park was established to honor those who lost their lives as pioneers in trying to travel to Utah during the early years of the state.
Beautiful fall trees

It is a pretty little spot and I am glad that we got to visit once before our mission completed.
