Washington Kennewick Mission Oral Histories- Con't

The day after the cemetery visit, we were off to Ogden, Utah to interview Sister Janet Anderson who served with her husband, Keith Anderson (deceased) as the first mission president and companion of the Washington Kennewick Mission in 2002.  This was our second in person interview and it again was a very sweet experience.  She was a lovely lady and she loved eastern Washington and Oregon and loved their service here.

She donated this gift to the library:   It is a piece of leftover granite from the exterior of the Columbia River Temple.  My siblings were all excited when I share the photo with them.

We also headed home with a plate of yummy cookies--

One of the blessings of missionary work!

Then Thursday, we headed north again--this time to Kaysville--for an interview with the Belnaps who also had served in Washington Kennewick Mission.  They told some amazing and tender stories about missionaries which I hope to never forget.  They testified that God is in the details of our lives.  Also that the people in that part of the country are great people!  Garth Tingey who I am sure worked with my dad served as temple president when they were serving.  They loved him and Sister Belnap discovered that they were actually related as cousins.  They also shared a gift:  One for Jena and I-- an uncirculated Washington Quarter left over from their service when they would give each new missionary one of these coins when they started their mission there--he had a roll left that he kept in his desk so he went and got us two.

Sister Belnap had already given Jena this gift when we arrived so that she could take notes during the interview.  How kind is that!
This is after we got home, of course.
She didn't wear pjs to the interview.

Again, both of these interviews were so sweet and tender.  I love this part of the world and I love that these people who were called to serve God and His missionaries fell in love with it as well.  What a honor it was to hear their stories and experiences!  Did I mention that I love being a missionary?
