Wednesday--Hollywood Disney and Epcot Center

Hollywood Disney---
Again, everywhere you look triggers memories of movies or events from the past.

We headed to the back of the park to catch the Toy Store ride before the lines became too long.  Even walking in was a delightful experience with the amazing set of toys and games which filled every view.

Tinker Toys anyone?

The line area for the actual Toy Story ride was filled with game memorabilia.  I took probably 40 photos while waiting in line during our two rides of this fun ride. See anything familiar from your childhood---well, maybe just from my childhood which is why I loved it so much--a Giberson paradise of games and toys!

Mr. Potato Head entertained the lines with
corny jokes which made us laugh.

The walls and ceilings were covered with game pieces and game boards.  We became competitive to see who could identify the game first.

Even the exit line was littered with old fashion toys from my childhood.

Of course, they were bigger than the original ones that we had at home.

Gibersons, recognize the Old Maid card.
A gigantic plug outlet to "power" something.  See what I mean--how creative people can be just to give us something to smile at when we notice it.
You never knew who might be walking around Hollywood Disney.  Star Wars fans, anyone?
They had some fun shows as well.  We saw Beauty and the Beast with the usual cast of characters...

and then the Indiana Jones Shunt show which showed different ways that stunts are done during productions.  The lead was one of the shunt doubles used in some of the Indiana Jones movies.

Everywhere there were fun things to see---I think I have mentioned that before.

Remember what these birds would say from Finding Nemo--  if you remembered "Mine, Mine, Mine," you are correct...and these birds would say it whenever people walked past.
One of the boat rides we took was through a huge greenhouse where Disney World studies plants and ways to protect the environment.  The walkway in was filled with quotes about the environment.  We are so blessed to live in a beautiful and diverse world.  We need to take the best care possible of it for now and the future.
We learned about a variety of research projects that the scientists here are working on.

I always laugh when I see banana plants.  When Gary and I had been married about 7 years we went to Hawaii for the first time.  I was amazed by the plant life and took so many photos--the old fashion way with film--of the banana trees because I thought they were so great and tropical.  Then just a few years later, we moved to Hong Kong where people had banana trees in their backyards.
Tomatoes grown up rather than at ground level
Experimenting with controlling water and soil more precisely to maximize yields.
Another way to grow lettuce....

We then made the walk over to the Epcot Center to enjoy a few rides and also have dinner in Norway in honor of my newly discovered Norwegian roots.

The Frozen ride......Let it go---------------
Gary's mom--Holly Hall--often uses the HH initials.  It represents a popular brand in Norway apparently, and we tried to find something we could buy her with it on, but no luck.
More photos from Norway at Epcot Center

It was Princess Night at the restaurant so we got to see several princesses and Mary Poppins who each came to our table to see if we wanted a photo.  We opted out, but it was fun to see all of the children so excited to get their pictures taken with their favorite princesses.  This was during the Children's parade.  I admire those moms who packed disney costumes for their Disney vacation.

My Norwegian dinner of salmon and white beans.

There is a ride inside this dome of light.  It is one of those dark rollercoaster type of rides.  It was fun.
Heading home by shuttle....and more game playing where we all worked to prove that Gary Kerr was not the master of Five Crowns like he had been the night before.
Some people have their own special way to get around Disney Parks.....
