The days were hot and humid so wearing a hat was helpful. It was amazing the details in the rides and the sights of the parks. Technology has really changed rides with many of them having 4 D glasses and seats where smells, touches, and vision to create a whole experience.
Checking out the map and making the plans for the day. Gary Kerr used a wheelchair for traveling around in the parks. I thought he had a great attitude about it. It made it possible for him to enjoy the rides and the parks he loves without using up his energy with just walking. Gary and Vonette did the pushing and it was sweet to watch their service to a person we all love.
Streets of Universal Studio---
Gary's first rollercoaster ride-
One new enhancement of the whole amusement park experience was the way that time in lines was filled with entertainment related to the ride itself. This was a live musical performance you watched while waiting for the Tonight Show's Race Through New York City.
And we walked around the brick walls and there is was--the famous Harry Potter Land. Having read the books, it was fun to see the details of the book brought to life in the streets and stores of this area of Universal. Everywhere there were fun things to see and do. We enjoyed a couple of rides, plus the ice cream shoppe.
The creature on the Bank
Talking Books
The Hogwarts Express which took you between areas of the park---
And Hogwarts---
We ate a late lunch at the Three Brooms Restaurant and the food was fabulous--probably one of my favorite meals at a park. It was served family style and everything was roasted--chicken, ribs, corn, vegetables and potatoes.
A cute performance by the "students of Hogwarts."---
And there he goes---shooting fire out of his mouth from time to time to add to the whole atmosphere of the place.
We rode rides, had snacks, and saw shows throughout Universal Studios. It was our first day and we wore ourselves out.
We grabbed a taxi and headed back to our hotel and it seemed like we stepped back to a quieter time as we stepped off the trail to let this horse drawn carriage pass us as we walked back to our rooms.
Dinner and game playing (Fruit Basket) finished off the night. And some facetime to meet the babies "in person."
