Trip to Texas: The Big Event

We left Plano and headed for the wedding in Valley View, Texas, about 60 minutes northwest from Plano.  Google maps took us on the backroads so we got to see the "Richland" sign which is a throwback to Giberson history.

Jena got this shot of a city water tower.  They are all over this part of the country.

Scott and Kayla chose to be married on Sunday at a wedding reception center in the small community outside of Denton, Texas, which included a small chapel.

Waiting for the service to start---both of them attended college at TCU and it was there that Scotty joined a Christian congregation.  They had a large group of friends who attended along with family members.  The pastor that married them was from his church which made it sweet and personal as they talked.  Their vows to each other were also very personal and meaningful.

After the wedding, trying out the tree swing---

Family pictures:  not the official ones--

Back row:  Scott, Kayla and Scotty, Sandy (who you can only see the very top of her head) Saul
Angela, Ari and Alessia and Ashley (their mom)

Siblings: Scott, me, Valerie, Rick

At the reception we had dinner, cheers, and dancing.  I am sure that there are much better pictures out there from the reception, but here are some of ours.

Let the dancing begin...and dance Jena did....with her Uncle Scott
and her cousin Scott.
Jena with Scott and Kayla---We have called him Scotty since he was a little boy to separate him from his dad, Scott, and our Scott.  But he now is going by Scott in the rest of his life so we are going to make the adjustment for him as well.  He is a great kid and Kayla seems just as amazing.  He is going to medical school and she is in law school in North Carolina.

We headed home late that evening, tired and ready for sleep---and some more talking.  Jena slept in the little loft off of the guest bedroom (which was Duncan's room when he is home from college.) except when his aunts took it over.
She thought it was a fun place to sleep.

And just like that, the days had flown by and it was time to head home on Monday.  It was a wonderful trip that you didn't want to end (well. except for the missing Gary part and the rest of my siblings and my dad...and my mom but you can't have everything.)  Congratulations and welcome to the family, Kayla.
