Zone Zoom Christmas Party

Despite the challenges, we decided that we would give it a try to have a Zone Zoom Christmas Party.  December is a typical time for gathering and we felt our Zone deserved a chance to gather and have fun even in a virtual way.  We did some research and talked to another set of zone leaders to see what they had done using zoom and we made our plans.  And all in all, we are very happy how it went.  I neglected to take a screen shot of the attendees at the party in their Christmas attire which was too bad.  We had about 18 people attend and I think they had a good time.

Invitation minus the cute clip art which won't download into this post and the actual link since it doesn't work anymore.

Zone Zoom Christmas Party

Monday, December 21, 2020

Starting at 6:30 pm

Join us for an unusual Christmas Party with the Zone on zoom.  Our gathering might be virtual, but the fun, laughter, and memories will be “Real”

Click on the Link to join.

Come prepared with a paper and pencil and bring your own snacks and drinks for the evening!

Hope to see you all there!

Hosts: Elder and Sis. Hall

This was our schedule--in case you want to do your own zoom party--

Welcome and Opening Prayer  (because we are a zone of missionaries)

Game #1:   Guess What Christmas Song   (on PowerPoint)    That is why they had to have paper and pencils.

A clue came on to the screen after about 3-5 seconds. For some reason, blogger won't hold the powerpoint picture I tried to post.

Sister Unger skunked everyone in the game scoring 36 out of 40 points in the game and won our prize.

Breakout Rooms:  We divided them into breakout rooms randomly and they had three minutes to find ways that they all had in common.  Then we gathered back together and they reported on the things that they had found--i.e. all ridden on horseback, all had a Sams Club, all had grey hair, all graduated from college, etc.  We did that three different times.

Snack break and Story time:  Gary and I read Twas the Night Before Christmas with commentary written by my dad back in the 1960s, adjusted by my sister, Valerie in the early 2000s, and further adjusted by us for Utah.

Sample-  Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring             not even a mouse"

That is not quite true.  Our cat caught a mouse and there was quite a bit of stirring downstairs.

We then had each of the zone members share their favorite Christmas ornament and tell what made it special.  That was quite sweet.

For the finale, we played the last song of Jena's Friend to Friend program- "O Holy Night" which they did in sign language.

We then ended but offered an "After Party Game" for those who were interested and two single sisters stayed and played that which was fun as well.

I am glad we tried it and I think those who attended were as well.  We will try it again in February and see if we can get more people to attend.  It was quite as fun as being together, but it did have a bit of that Christmas flair, we laughed together, and know each other slightly better than before.

It is starting to feel like Christmas.....
