when you do something without thinking and it makes a huge mess----
The only good thing about this situation was that Gary and I did the "unthinking" together and both dumped the two glass shelves from the TV stand onto the cement floor. We have had it so long that we forgot that the shelves were not attached to the stand. It was a lot of black glass everywhere. URG!!! Oh, well, the good news is that the top shelf stayed on and didn't break so it still works as a stand.
