Oro Valley, AZ- (Oct. 5 through morning of the 8th-Days 3,4,5, and 6th)

Pictures are worth a thousand words.  I am so grateful of these photos with Ben in Oro Valley.  This is the first time he has made a trip down since they moved.  The kids loved showing him their lizards and snakes (they are both related to Scott for sure.) So happy he was there.

We had s'mores out back in their fire pit....

...and loved their Halloween decorations which we have never seen in person ourselves.
That ghost will "attack" you as you walk past it, so be aware!  or Beware!!!

Mondays we spent time swimming outside and doing puzzles inside.  More of the same on Tuesday although we did have our traditional Girls Lunch and also play some games that evening.

A $35 dollar tote from Home Depot becomes a water craft in your pool.

Even watching the kids make a water slide was so fun. And we loved meeting some of their friends who were in and out during those few days as well.
I enjoyed different views on my morning walk and not many "fall colors" here yet.
Monday night we headed to their local Thai Place --Tuk Tuk Thai. Yummy!

Sometimes don't you want to go back
into the photo and fix your hair. :)

From our Girls Lunch at the "teaspoon"--

And Scarlett is about 3" taller than Jena now which is craziness.  They both remember being the same height last November at our reunion.  How does that happen?

And we came home to have this moment--Many might not know especially in the future that one of the aspects of Ben's illness is delusions which can involve a variety of things.  However, one major one he has been struggling with for over four years is feeling unsafe outside and the fear of floating away.  But he really wanted to be with James, Scarlett, and all of us in enjoying the pool...and he did it!!! I cried.  I know it was just a moment, and it is still a delusion that bothers him even now, BUT he has these photos and these memories to add to his life and for that I am so grateful.
James is a gardener and here is his current garden.  It is so fun to watch these kids grow and develop their own interests and hobbies.  James likes snakes and lizards like his dad, but gardening is somewhat his own thing although I think Chantel is a great supporter.
And Wednesday morning, we headed home back through the deserts with their amazing cacti, through the mountains of Arizona,.....
over the bridge at Lake Powell...
and back to the fall colors and fall weather of Utah.  It was a quick trip, but so enjoyable and lots of sweet memories to hold.
Thanks, Gary, Ben and Jena for being great travel buddies.  We will have to do it again!
