King's Valley Cemetery

In between our extended Owen cousin gathering and our immediate cousin gathering, some of us headed about 30 minutes south to visit the cemetery where our great grandparents--Benjamin and Jane Owen are buried.  Since cemeteries are now a sweet place for me, it made it even more special to be there with some of my siblings and cousins as we explored the Pioneer section of this cemetery.

It is a beautiful location on the hills of
the valley

Jane C. Owen
She has a very unusual shaped headstone.
There is one other similar from the year 1889.

Benjamin Franklin Owen
his is hard to read but also includes
that he was in the Oregon calvary
With my siblings by the markers.

It was good to be here and to honor them in this way.  I feel a special closeness to them since we took that Oregon trail road trip during a trip home from Nauvoo one year.

A fun side note: While we were driving to this site, I got some texts from my friend, Tiffany Dickson, about their new and first grand daughter--who they named Jane.  How weird to be standing by my great grandmother's gravesite as those texts came through.

I sent her this selfie with the grave marker in the back but the wind was not cooperating....the pictures we take now days because we can!!!

Benjamin Franklin Owen and Jane Curry McClure Owen--I look forward to meeting you in person one day!
