The Pass Along Cards
April 8th- Total Eclipse Day In Arkansas
It is fun to be serving a mission during the time that a total eclipse is going to happen in your area. Our zone meeting last week was focused on Spiritual Eclipses and what keeps us from doing our best to follow the Savior. The Collins designed these fun pass along cards and the missionaries used them in the week before the eclipse to invite people to watch General Conference, come to Church, or to learn more about the Savior.

Our Eclipse shirts which I got everyone for our Anniversary. I could have sold them on the day of the eclipse.
The changing of the shadows of the leaves
A moment where there was no shadow cast by my feet and legs...
The crowd continued to grow....
She gave us posing instructions as well.... Look at the eclipse....
"Point" Gary apparently needs more specific directions. LOL
We enjoyed about 3 1/2 minutes of totality in Clarksville, but my camera wasn't really good for catching the eclipse. We saw the sunsets in both the east and the west, we enjoyed the dark and the coldness that same with it--but the best moment was when the moon first completely covered the sun, the whole crowd cheered!! It was so unexpected but so perfect. I was glad that I was in a place with 150 strangers enjoying these amazing event.

To the west, an 18 wheeler had pulled to side of the street right before totality. Afterwards, he drove past and honked to everyone. Humans enjoying nature together.
but about 10 miles from Ft. Smith as we joined Hwy. 22, we hit the traffic. So it took us about 2 hours in total to make the return trip home/
GENERAL CONFERENCE WEEKEND
Awesome---Key words for me: prayer, confidence, covenants, and temples!
Hooray for Zion!
We had Karina and the sister missionaries join us for the Saturday afternoon session at our house--
Conference in the High Council room
Along the wall in this room they have the pictures of the First Presidency and all of the Apostles. I guess someone was tired of being asked where Elder Kearan's photo was (he was newly called a few months ago.)
It was sweet to be together for the morning session.....
Tiny Kitchen Problems And Other Stuff
I will miss many things about serving in Arkansas even things about this apartment but I will not miss the kitchen.
On Tuesday, April 2, our laptop computer broke (sad news). As Gary is using that exclusively and we use it for our Institute lessons twice a week--it was important to get a replacement fast--and with the magic of the internet and on-line shopping, he was able to get a replacement delivered the next day, everything installed and moved from the old computer, and ready to use for Institute on Thursday in Clarksville (which we had to cancel since our students couldn't make it).

For about 12 hours, Gary had to use the TV as a monitor for the laptop since it was the connectors between the screen and the body of the computer that broke. Always a work around. (If you have a Gary in your house!)
One of my friends from graduate school is getting married and she was determined to learn how to do calligraphy by hand so that she could address her envelopes herself. She wasn't sure about that decision about half way through the pile, she posted on Facebook, but they turned out darling.
